HIFN Leadership is preparing to settle the James Bay Railway Specific Claim Process with Canada. Through Canada's process, the settlement agreement has to be agreed upon by eligible voting members.
The Community Input Meeting to discuss the Environmental Permit for the wind farm has been postponed.
The meeting was originally scheduled for this coming Sunday 07 February. A new date will be posted shortly.
If you've paid taxes (HST) and kept your receipts for purchases made last year (January 2013 - December 2013) at the grocery store, or anywhere, like a shoe store, convenience store, or drive thru for take-out food, then you can apply for a refund of the PST portion of your receipt.
An information session for Community Members will be provided by the Anishinabek Nation (UOI).
The meeting is in regards to the upcoming ratification of the Anishinabek Nation Education Agreement with the federal government.
Please be advised that the cash distribution of the TREATY PAYMENTS for HENVEY INLET FIRST NATION will be held at the HEALTH CENTRE on Tuesday, May 10th, 2016 between the hours of 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm.

Henvey Inlet First Nation is seeking a Elementary School Bus Driver to join our Administration for a temporary, 10-month contract for the 2024-25 school year. The Elementary School Bus Driver reports to the Education Counsellor and is responsible for transporting students of various ages to and from their homes and respective schools in a timely and safe manner and in accordance with MTO driving regulations, Ontario traffic laws and safe driving practices. This position requires excellent organization, communication and customer service skills.

In the 1950s, the Indian Boarding Homes Program placed First Nations and Inuit children in private homes for the purpose of attending school. This Settlement provides compensation to people placed in these homes. You are a Primary Class Member if Canada placed you in a private home, between September 1, 1951 and June 30, 1992. You may still be eligible if you were placed after June 30, 1992. People who were placed in private homes, but died on or after July 24, 2016, may also be eligible, and their estate can apply on their behalf.
