What is a Trust?

  • A trust is a legally distinct entity created by a binding agreement between a settlor and the trustee regarding the use of assets.

  • Transfers capital to and enters into a Trust Agreement with the Trustee(s).

  • Hold, manage and oversee funds according to the Trust’s purposes and goals.

  • Receives disbursements from the Trust and benefits from the use of Trust funds to improve infrastructure, member services, and community economic development.

Henvey Inlet First Nation COMMUNITY APPROVAL VOTE RESULTS

  1.  I, Scott Jacobs, was present at the Henvey Inlet First Nation Fire Hall on the 13th day of December 2020 when the members of Henvey Inlet First Nation voted on the “Henvey Inlet Windfarm Legacy Trust”. The polling station was opened at 10:00 am and remained open until 5:00 pm of that day.

  2. The names of 770 Eligible Voters appeared on the List of Eligible Voters.

Henvey Inlet First Nation Windfarm Legacy Trust Community and Expert Trustee Search

HIFN Council is seeking applications from members interested in acting as trustees of the proposed Henvey Inlet First Nation Windfarm Legacy Trust. If the Windfarm Legacy Trust proposal is approved by Community Approval vote on 13 December 2020, two Community Trustee positions and two Expert Trustee positions will be available. All appointments will be conditional on the vote outcome.

Lands Advisory Committee Advice and Recommendations

Draft land law 2020/21-001: the Henvey Inlet First Nation Windfarm Legacy Trust and the distribution of wealth from the wind energy centre.

Purpose
The proposed land law will:

  • authorize Band Council to establish the Henvey Inlet First Nation Windfarm Legacy Trust substantially in accordance with a draft Trust Settlement Deed attached as Schedule “A” to the Land Law; and
  • require Band Council to dedicate the income stream it receives from Nigig Power Corporation to the Trust for the balance of the FIT contract, which terminates in 2039, together with any surplus of rent the Band receives from the windfarm project.

Band Council has tabled a draft land law which will authorize the establishment of the Henvey Inlet First Nation Windfarm Legacy Trust to manage income from Nigig Power Corporation and unexpended rent from the windfarm project for the benefit of our First Nation.

The Secondary School Bus Driver reports to the Education Counsellor and is responsible for transporting students of various ages to and from their homes and respective schools in a timely and safe manner and in accordance with MTO driving regulations, Ontario traffic laws and safe driving practices. This position requires excellent organization, communication and customer service skills.

The Gas Bar Attendant reports to the Gas Bar Manager and is responsible for the sale of fuel and other automotive products and in-store merchandise, including tobacco products. The Gas Bar Attendant is also responsible for processing all point-of-sale transactions via cash, credit or debit card using an electronic scanner and cash register. This position requires a high level of personal integrity and superior customer service skills.
