Important Wind Farm Notices

UP-DATED ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT

Based on a dialogue with Canada Wildlife Service and comments from our 3rd party experts, AECOM has added new mitigation to the Final EA Report on the windfarm proposed for Reserve No. 2. The addendum mitigation is intended to deal with species at risk (“SAR’s”).

UPDATE on the Wind Farm Environmental Permit

At the Community Input meeting on Sunday, January 24th, our Lands Advisory Committee advised that HIFN’s draft Environmental Permit was still being reviewed by HIFN’s 3rd party experts (Arcadis and Savanta).

Wildlife Impacts

What is the impact on animals?

Impacts will occur. They are not yet determined.  An Environmental Assessment will make recommendations to accommodate wildlife.

If serious impacts occur that cannot be avoided, the project will not be approved by the Province.

Employment Gains

Employment gains are short term because only a few people with specialized skills from the power company or turbine manufacturer are required for maintenance once the installation is done.
