Henvey Inlet First Nation Nominee List 2023

If you have been nominated for either Chief or Councillor, Nominee Packages for all On-Reserve Members can be picked up at the Administration Office. All Off-Reserve members will have a package mailed to you via express post on Friday February 10, 2023 to the last know address provided by the First Nation. Nominees may also contact the Electoral Officer at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and electronic copies of all documents will be sent out to you. 

To all nominees, please contact Scott Jacobs at (705) 875-8650 to notify him of how you wish you name to appear on the ballot before 8:00pm on February 14, 2023 if you have not already done so at the nomination meeting. Should you not contact the Electoral Officer; your name will appear as listed on the membership list as Surname/First Name/Middle Initial. 

Any candidate wishing to remove his/her name from the ballot must submit a completed withdrawal form to Scott Jacobs prior to 8:00pm on Tuesday February 14, 2023. Candidates may withdraw after February 14, 2023, however, it will the sole responsibility of the Candidate to advertise their withdrawal. The Electoral Officer cannot confirm or deny the standing of any candidate during this process.

THE ENERGY CORRIDOR FIRST NATIONS

LOGO ARTWORK COMPETITION

The Energy Corridor First Nations (ECFN) is a consortium of 11 Ontario First Nations which have united to build, own and operate major electrical transmission infrastructure in our treaty and traditional lands.

ECFN is hosting an open call for First Nation artists across Canada to submit two-dimensional art pieces for a chance to win in up to three categories: First Place – $1,000, Second Place – $500, and Third Place – $100.

Artwork Concept: ECFN needs a unifying logo. We are seeking artwork which embodies some of the following concepts: economic reconciliation, First Nations sovereignty and unity, opportunities for future generations, prosperity, traditional knowledge, land stewardship and electrical transmission infrastructure.

Are you or your family interested in food self-determination?

It doesn’t matter where you are on your journey, whether you’ve been harvesting, growing, hunting, fishing, or preserving for some time, or you’re just starting out.

Are you First Nations living in Northern Ontario?

Do you have a food-based project that strengthens food self-determination for yourself or your household?

Gaagige Zaagibigaa (GZ) will be launching our 2026 grant cycle through the Self-Determined Household Support Program (SDHSP) February 2nd, 2026!

Starting this year, GZ will offer one annual grant cycle as we increase our support to households:

$2,000 for urban households

$4,000 for remote households

Henvey Inlet First Nation is seeking a full-time Education Manager to join our Administration. The Education Manager reports to the Director of Finance/Administration and is responsible for monitoring student attendance and grades in order to identify academic problems and recommend solutions. The Education Manager is the primary contact for HIFN members seeking information on available educational support and is responsible to provide academic and career counselling services to HIFN students and families pursuing their educational paths. The Education Manager will also act as HIFN’s education liaision with external institutions and agencies seeking First Nations consultation on education policy. This position requires exceptional client relation and interpersonal communication skills.
