Henvey Inlet First Nation - The baseball field in the community is getting a facelift – that’s thanks to a Trillium Foundation grant of $60,000.
HIFN had applied for the grant last year, which they were successful in receiving. However, leadership deferred the grant to be spent this year.
The upgrades to the baseball field include;
- new diamond dust on the infield,
- and new sod on the outfield.
The entire field is also being levelled with just a light grade to allow for water run-off. B.Thomas bulldozing has been awarded the contract and are currently working on site. Work is estimated to be complete in early October.
Director of Finance/Administration Millie Pawis says, “I anxiously await the completion of the field upgrade for the use of our youth.” It is hoped that with a newly surfaced field, our membership will be able to enter the Highway 69 Corridor baseball league.
