Chief's Special Newsletter Proposed Land Law on Cannabis Use, Sale and Production within our lands

When cannabis was legalized in the fall of 2018, Band Council responded to community concerns by issuing a moratorium on the sale and production of cannabis within our reserves until the members had an opportunity to become better informed and to express their views through a community vote.

New Membership Code Working Group

Membership Code Committee Henvey Inlet First Nation

Our Membership Code was adopted in 1987 and has never been updated. It is urgently in need of review and restatement to keep up with recent developments within our lands, changes in the laws which determine who is entitled to Indian Act status, and to better reflect our culture and beliefs.

HIFN Community Researcher Needs Community Input

Doreen Mckenzie has been hired as the Community Researcher for Henvey Inlet First Nation to create a Community Profile Booklet, She is requesting help from the Community, in regards to any and all information you may know regarding the history of the first families that lived here on French River #13- (Cantin Island) and Bekanon Reserve #2.

Pickerel Contracting Ltd. is currently seeking a full-time General Carpenter to join our team. The General Carpenter reports to the Site Supervisor and is responsible for assisting with construction and maintaining residences and buildings. The General Carpenter will also assist with building, restoring and/or installing of structural woodwork and related materials of active projects. Housing and Finance Assistant

Henvey Inlet First Nation is seeking a full-time Housing and Finance Assistant to join our Administration. The Housing and Finance Assistant reports to the Director of Finance/Administration and is responsible for coordinating preventative maintenance for all Band-owned housing units and supervising all housing maintenance and repairs. The Housing and Finance Assistant receives and reviews all housing applications and inquiries, and, in collaboration with the Housing Committee, recommends tenants to Chief and Council for vacant units in accordance with the rules and regulations set forth in the Housing Policy.
