Henvey Inlet First Nation Land Code Committee

Meeting Commenced: 6:00 pm
Adjourned: 8:15 pm

Attendance:

Staff: Ken Noble, Consultant, Terry Bennett, Communications Assistant

Committee Members: Allan McDonald, Alex Ashawasagai, Victor Ashawasagai, Morris Ashawasagai, Eleanor Moses, Carrie Lynn Bennett, Kim McQuabbie, Genevieve Solomon Dubois

Community Members: Fern Panamick, Elwood Ashawasaga Jr., Edward Panamick Sr. (Council)

Regrets: Jennifer Ashawasegai, Land Code Coordinator, Ken Noble facilitated this meeting while Jennifer is away at school.

Need to set more meeting dates to keep process consistent. Elections are coming soon, and it shouldn’t interfere with land code development.

Committee agreed to January 23rd, and 30th for committee meeting dates this month.

In future meetings, committee members will take turns chairing.

Environmental Assessment sites: Henderson Padden has been working with the band, however, was not the firm selected to complete phase One of the EA. Neegan Burnside has been chosen as their proposal fell well within set budget guidelines.

Land Claim: Band lawyer Bill Taggart is continuing on the description of the claim, and says it will not affect Land Code development.

Ken reviewed last meeting’s questions from committee, along with Jennifer’s findings.

Ken reviewed area Authority to Govern within the Land Codes and how it relates to Henvey Inlet.
